Williamsbridge

Williamsbridge is a middle class neighborhood located in north central Bronx. Its boundaries are East 222nd Street to the north, Boston Road to the east, East Gun Hill road to the south and the Bronx River parkway to the west.  White Plains Road serves as the primary thoroughfare through Williamsbridge.

Several buses and train lines serve the area. Specifically, they include the IRT White Plains Road line at 255th Street, the 2 & 5 trains at Gun Hill Road and 219th street and the Bx28, bx8 and Bx39 all make stops into the area’s central points.

The neighborhood, which was historically heavily Jewish and Italian-American, is now predominately African-American with much of its population being native-born people of Caribbean or African descent.

Williamsbridge is also home to the Seventh District World War I Monument located at East 219th Street and Bronx Blvd, and the park that surrounds it, has undergone a renaissance and beautification program.
